Today (22 April 2011) has been recognized as the Earth Day. It is a day that is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s natural environment. Earth Day was founded by United States Senator Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in first held on April 22, 1970.

Today, Earth Day becomes one of the most important hallmarks in the world of conservation and recycling. It carries strong responsibility and ownership for our planet as we have to realize the fact that this the only Earth that we have thus we have to take significant steps to lessen the impacts on our environment.

Let’s give our support to this event and celebration by doing something good for the public and the environment. Even a small contribution and prayer can help to sustain the world and our environment.

So how to support?

You can do a lot of things to support this Earth Day through community programs, talks, quizzes and you can start from yourself – realize about our Earth now! See some of the activities that you can do here.

Let’s read a poem dedicated to this day:

“I’m proud to wear my Earth Day badge
I give the Earth a hand.
I pick up litter, care for trees,
Recycle what I can.
I’m an Earth Day helper
Each and every day.
I take care of Mother Earth
In oh, so many ways.”
